Banana Split Ice Cream

As much as we all love a good old-fashioned banana split ice cream sundae, I’m here to tell you that banana split ice cream – it’s a whole new world of homemade ice cream.

Creamy, freshly churned banana ice cream is swirled with crushed pineapple, maraschino cherries, peanuts, and chocolate chips to create this ice cream.

Each scoop of banana split ice cream is a whole explosion of flavor and when you take scoops of this ice cream and top them with whipped cream, it’s an ice cream sundae everyone wants to dive into.

There’s just something fun and nostalgic about the flavors of a classic banana split. That’s probably why we enjoy these Banana Split Brownie Trifles so much. Well, that and the fact they’re pretty awesome too, with layers of vanilla pudding, fudge brownies, fresh berries, and sliced bananas.

And for the next weekend morning when you want a special treat? Happy memories of childhood banana splits meet the morning comfort of pancakes in these Banana Split Pancakes.

Glazed Lemon Cookies

These buttery, not-too-sweet cookies with a mild lemon flavor and a sweetly tart lemon glaze have been a hit with everyone who tries one.

Glazed Lemon Cookies

In my family, we’re all big fans of lemon desserts. From the best lemon bars you’ll ever taste to the lemon angel pie we make every year, lemon ice cream to lemon sorbet, lemon cheesecake to glazed lemon pound cake, there aren’t many lemon desserts that won’t make me smile.

Sometimes I like that pop of tangy citrus flavor to pretty much hit me in the face. Other times the lemon flavor sneaks in quietly and works its magic that way. These lemon cookies are a quiet kind of magical treat.

This is a mild lemon cookie, perfect for pairing with a cup of tea in the afternoon. If you want to kick up that lemon flavor, a bit more lemon zest will do the trick and a bit of lemon extract will boost it even more. Feel free to adjust the amount of lemon to deliver the lemon cookie you will like best.

You’ll need the following ingredients to make these cookies:

  • sugar
  • lemon zest
  • butter
  • egg
  • vanilla extract
  • all-purpose flour
  • baking powder
  • salt

Apple Crisp Ice Cream

Apple Crisp Ice Cream, the name alone sounds pretty amazing, doesn’t it?

That’s before I tell you that this ice cream is made with the creamiest of homemade vanilla ice creams, then completely loaded with bits of cinnamon sweet baked apples, and crunchy streusel topping.

There is nothing about this ice cream that I did not love. (Except perhaps the fact that I ate way too much of it.)

The idea for this ice cream popped into my mind a few weeks ago. I tried a couple of different versions using the same ingredients, but not with a real apple crisp. They lacked the authentic apple crisp flavor I wanted.

I finally caved and decided to bake an actual apple crisp just for the ice cream. As soon as my apple crisp finished cooling last week, I was chopping it into bits and folding it into this ice cream.

I don’t know when I’ve been more excited about an ice cream recipe. (Spoiler alert – that excitement was fully justified.)

I initially thought of this recipe as “sacrificing” an apple crisp for the ice cream, but after one bit

Birthday Cake Ice Cream

Vanilla sweet cream ice cream filled with chunks of birthday cake and plenty of sprinkles is as much fun to make as it is to eat!

This birthday cake ice cream is my current favorite flavor. And yes, I just declared a new favorite ice cream for at least the 10th time on this website. How could I possibly choose a forever favorite when I’m constantly trying new flavors to share with you?

Prior to making this ice cream, I don’t remember the last time I tasted a funfetti cake topped with sprinkles frosting. Let me tell you, this cake was a time machine back to my childhood. I remember enjoying these cakes so very much at birthday parties. (And there simply aren’t enough opportunities for funfetti cakes as adults – let’s change that, ok?)

Could I have made the cake and the frosting from scratch for this ice cream? Absolutely! Could you do that? You bet! That said, there are a couple of reasons why I didn’t mess with doing that for this ice cream. First, if I’m being honest, it felt like overkill for a batch of ice cream.

And second, I don’t think it will make that big a difference. Might it be even tastier? Maybe, but not enough that I was willing to work through three different recipes just to make the ice cream I was craving.

Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons

Always a hit when tucked inside boxes of Christmas sweets, chocolate dipped Coconut Macaroons are rich, sweet, chewy cookies that are almost candy-like.

Coconut Macaroons with Chocolate

I like to use dark chocolate when making these, as the bittersweet chocolate balances the sweetness of the coconut, and the flavors work very well together.

I’ve made these macaroons at Christmastime for the past 15+ years. (In addition to making them for pretty much every other occasion too.) If you love coconut anywhere near as much as we do, you will fall in love with these cookies.

How To Make Coconut Macaroons

There are a few different ways to make macaroons and I’ve tried plenty of them. Many of the macaroon recipes that I’ve seen require beating the egg whites before adding them to the mixture. I’ve tried this method myself.

In the end, I don’t find it makes enough of a difference to justify the extra effort. They will turn out just a tiny bit lighter, but like I said, for me? Part of the fun in macaroons is in how simple they are to make.

All you need to do is dump all of the ingredients in a bowl, give it a quick stir with a spoon, and scoop them out onto a tray. Easy peasy and you’ll be enjoying the macaroons before you know it.
