White Chocolate Cranberry Bliss Bars

Say goodbye to dry blonde brownies and sink your teeth into these chewy white chocolate cranberry bliss bars! They are loaded with cranberries and white chocolate chips and topped with a tasty cream cheese frosting.

I’ve been on a mission to create a soft and chewy blonde brownie, and this is it! I made them different than any recipe I could find and I really think this way is the BEST!

Growing up I never really cared about cranberries. They weren’t even on my radar in fact. But the older I get the more it’s creeping in as one of my can’t-live-without ingredients. They are so good in salads, rice dishes, desserts etc and so how could I not make the famous Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bars recipe? Except, this one is actually delicious.

I know, I know, that seems harsh, but their bars are a bit underwhelming and dry in my opinion. When looking up and testing recipes I just kept thinking, this needs to be one of those bars that you just sink your teeth into all slow and delicious. You know what I mean? But blondies, or blonde brownies I should say, seem to be nothing but dry, especially the next day.

Cue the cream cheese. I knew with less water content and more fat than butter that I could possibly make a superior bar and that’s exactly what I did. Cade wasn’t at all convinced and now he keep

Homemade Apple Pie

Homemade Apple Pie

There might actually not be anything better on the earth than a warm slice of homemade apple pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Am I right? Or am I RIGHT?

When I was a little girl I was a cookie lover. Quite a few of my very first memories involve being in the kitchen with Dad to make oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookies and with Mom to make Halloween sugar cookies. Which is funny because I never really liked those sugar cookies. I remember Mom rolling out that soft, delicious dough (the dough was yummers, it was the baked cookie that lost its appeal to me) and me stamping out as many spooky shapes as I could. But those things are fading because as I get older I’m finding that I enjoy a slice of pie more and more. Especially this homemade apple pie.

In my experience, you are either an apple pie lover or an apple pie hater. If you read about Cade’s apple pie you’ll learn that my mom HATED apple pie which is why I don’t have a recipe from her. But that seems to be common, a lot of people don’t like apple pie while others adore it. I’m an adorer. ADORER? Is that even a word?

What Do I Need to Make Homemade Apple Pie?

I think most people think apple pie is super complicated and involved, but it is really so simple and only takes a few simple ingredients. There are only 5 ingredients in the pie crust, and then for the filling, I love to use a blend of apples with some sugar, salt, spices and flour for thickening. It’s so easy! Anyone can do it! Here is what you will need…

Pie Crust: flour, butter, salt, sugar, and ice water

Pie Filling

  • Apples: a blend of Honey Crisp, Granny Smith, and Golden Delicious
  • Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Kosher Salt
  • Spices: Nutmeg, Cinnamon, and Cardamom
  • Flour
  • Milk
  • Sprinkling Sugar (optional)

The measurements for all the ingredients can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post. I should also mention here that some people swear by adding a little lemon juice to apple pie filling. I feel like it messes with the pure apple flavor of the filling, but if you are fan of lemon in the filling, by all means

Our Favorite From Scratch Banana Cream Pie Recipe

A banana cream pie recipe that is made completely from scratch and infused with real banana flavor. This is the best banana pie filling you’ll ever find!

I used the ATK method of infusing the filling with real bananas and oh my gosh, I love it so much. Why don’t people like pie?! What is wrong with the world? I have never once posted our bcp recipe because I hate that it lacked banana flavor. And now I’m so happy!

I heard someone complaining it’s the worst dessert and a piece of my soul withered right there. Right there on the spot! I just can’t understand it! Pie is dessert perfection!

Cinnamon Crumb Pumpkin Coffee Cake Recipe

My feelings for coffee cake run deep, so I absolutely had to make a pumpkin version of my coffee cake recipe with a cinnamon crumb streusel topping and maple glaze.

Soooo we should talk about how much I love coffee cake because after posting the best coffee cake, and coffee cake muffins, it’s becoming obvious that I’ve got a little obsession. And how could I not? The crumb topping is like the most perfect streusel ever and I’m not exaggerating. It’s got this tiny little hint of salt that you have to taste to understand the goodness. But on top of that, the pumpkin cake is so full of flavor and so tender soft that you just can’t help but take bite after bite.

Pumpkin pie cake has long been a favorite on our blog and I know this is ridiculous but for years I’ve been wondering how I could create a from scratch breakfast version. Obviously things got a little out of hand as that cinnamon topping came into play but I’m certain you’re going to be making this pumpkin coffee cake year after year. In fact, I insist you do. It may sound silly but one of the best gifts you can give your kids is a family tradition. You’d be surprised how much it will mean to them in the future.

Reasons You’ll Love this Pumpkin Coffee Cake Recipe

  • Drizzled with a maple glaze
  • Thick and perfect cinnamon crumb topping
  • Fantastic blend of warm fall flavors
  • Indulgent for breakfast and scrumptious for dessert
  • Super soft, moist and tender
  • Best of all, so easy and quick to make

Mom’s Lemon Meringue Pie

Mom’s Lemon Meringue Pie

My mom was famous for her Lemon Meringue Pie growing up. In fact, she still is!  It was often requested for parties or sick visits. (Really, I remember people asking my mom to bring this pie instead of chicken noodle soup when they were sick!)  I often forget how good it is until I make it-then I just can’t stop eating it!

This recipe starts with a flakey homemade pie crust that is filled with smooth and creamy lemon filling and topped with toasted meringue. It is totally irresistible!

A picture of a lemon meringue pie. the meringue is fluffy and slightly browned. There are lemon wedges next to the pie.

Our kids especially love the meringue. No matter how many times I make it with them and they watch the entire process they are convinced it’s marshmallow. I guess it is in a way, but it’s definitely meringue. I love that they are so adamant. “Dad, mom made Grandma’s pie with the marshmallows!” We are starting to not correct them at all as they are pretty darn sure that they are right and nothing is going to convince them otherwise.
