Sharing tips on how to reduce stress-related hair loss.

Hi friends! Happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed the weekend and that your week is off to a good start. We’re emptying Liv’s room and cleaning out her closet today (pray for me) and looking forward to hopping in the pool later.

For today’s post, I wanted to talk about something that affects a lot of women (and men!): hair loss. Hormonal changes, stressors, toxins, nourishment, and hair care habits can all impact the quality and quantity of hair, so I thought I’d share some tips for keeping your hair luscious and healthy.

A friendly reminder that I’m not a doctor. If you’re noticing hair loss, particularly sudden hair loss, make an appointment with your doctor ASAP. This can be a sign that something else is going on, so it’s worth it to see your health care provider for a full assessment.

I also wanted to say that I’ve been there. With postpartum, illness, and stressful events in life, my hair quality, texture, and quantity have all been affected. I feel like over the past five years, I’ve seen a huge improvement with my hair. Friendly reminder: this post is NOT medical advice and is for informational purposes only.

How to reduce stress-related hair loss

In our fast-paced and demanding lives, stress has become an all-too-familiar companion. While it can affect various aspects of our health, one surprising consequence is stress-related hair loss. The toll of chronic stress can lead to hair thinning and shedding, leaving us concerned about the health of our precious locks. Today, I’m going to chat about the connection between stress and hair loss and equip you with practical strategies to alleviate its impact.

Understand the Stress-Hair Loss Connection:

Before tackling the issue head-on, it’s crucial to understand how stress affects our hair health. Stress triggers hormonal imbalances, particularly an increase in cortisol levels, which can disrupt the hair growth cycle and lead to hair loss. Recognizing this connection empowers us to take proactive steps towards reducing stress and its negative impact on our hair.

Embrace Stress Management Techniques:

Implementing effective stress management techniques is key. Explore relaxation practices like meditation, deep breathing exercises, and yoga to promote a sense of calm and reduce stress hormones. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can work wonders in managing stress. Here is my blog post with lots of meditation tips.

Prioritize Self-Care and Me-Time:

Amid the hustle and bustle of daily life, remember to prioritize self-care. Dedicate time for activities that bring you joy and help you unwind. Whether it’s reading a book, taking a long bath, or engaging in a hobby, giving yourself regular me-time is vital for reducing stress and nurturing your hair’s health.

Chicken and Broccoli Stir Fry

Web Admin 0 180 Article rating: No rating

Tender chicken pieces are sautéed to perfection, along with crisp broccoli florets, before they are tossed in the easiest (and tastiest) stir fry sauce, crafted from soy sauce, chili paste, and brown sugar.

This chicken and broccoli stir fry creates an irresistible symphony of sweet, savory, and spicy notes. Served on its own or over rice, my family scrapes the pan clean every time I make this recipe.

My family’s all time favorite stir fry is this Spicy Chicken and Bacon Stir Fry that my husband made for the first time almost 12 years ago. He’s made it for us countless times since then and every single person that has ever tried it loves it.

The sauce for this stir fry is adapted from that recipe and let me tell you, a handful of simple ingredients have never been combined with such success before. It’s a winner every time.

Disneyland’s Pomme Frites Copycat Recipe

Disneyland’s Pomme Frites Copycat Recipe

a photo of a dish full of hot salty parmesan fries with a dish of cajun dipping sauce sitting next to it.

This fabulous dipping sauce Cajun remoulade is boldly flavorful, wonderfully creamy with a bright lemon burst and is the best sauce for dipping these hot and salty Disneyland copycat pomme frites (french fries)!

The Cajun Remoulade

We started making this sauce because of my obsession with the pomme frites (oh my gosh I can’t even write it without my mouth watering!!!!) and sauce at Disneyland. Literally the best fries and sauce ever. My goodness!!!

After a couple years of making sauces from scratch, I decided to take a short cut on this one. Everyone says this sauce is like thousand island dressing, but there’s more to it. So I use some thousand island which is easier than opening tomato paste, and then add some extra dimension to it. Boom…this new recipe was born!

What is a Remoulade?

A remoulade, plain and simple, is a cold sauce based on mayonnaise. It just sounds much fancier than french fry dip, don’t you think?!

What are Pomme Frites?

Pomme frites is just a fancy and fun way to say french fries. When I say that I just ate my weight in pomme frites, it sounds much better than french fries. Ha!

The Homemade Pomme Frites

We’ve been making homemade french fries for forever but we are finally including the recipe here! It’s so easy!

Have you ever had the pomme frites at Cafe Orleans at Disneyland? Please tell me you have! Hot salty fries are my happiest place on earth. Give me an irresistible sauce to dip them in, and you can forget about it!

We double fry the pomme frites, and then top them Parmesan, garlic (fresh), fresh parsley, salt and a little of the Cajun seasoning.

What Ingredients are Needed for Pomme Frites Sauce?

You’re just a few ingredients away from the best dipping sauce for french fries. Trust me on this one friends…you’ll never want to dip those golden hot fries in anything else! Here is your ingredients list:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Thousand Island Dressing
  • Worcestershire Sauce

Gooey Biscoff Crumb Bars

Gooey Biscoff Crumb Bars

a photo of a biscoff crumb bar sitting on a torn piece of parchment paper so you can see the cross-section of a thick cookie base topped with melted marshmallows and crumb topping drizzled with cookie butter

These Biscoff crumb bars are crazy rich but I can’t resist them! A thick and chewy cookie base topped with a layer of melty Biscoff spread, then roasted marshmallows and a crunchy crumb topping with a Biscoff drizzle…holy heaven!

We’ve been loving making campfire banana boats this summer and on a whim I made the most delicious Biscoff version. Immediately we all obsessed that it was the best banana boat ever but it didn’t stop there. By the next morning I’d barely slept as I kept dreaming of turning them into a dessert bar.

I debated sooooo much on every aspect of these bars but nothing as much as the base. Finally I decided on a snickerdoodle cookie base and I’m telling you, I am trying so hard to be humble but they are amazing. Even my family agrees, best dessert ever.

That slightly salty crumb topping is essential to balance this overly sweet bar and the marshmallow amount is totally up to you. I like a little less while my kids want more goo!

What is Biscoff?

Biscoff is a spread, similar in texture and consistency to peanut butter, made of ground up Biscoff cookies mixed with fat, flour and sugar.

What Flavor is Biscoff?

Biscoff spread and cookies have a warm caramel-y flavor with hints of brown sugar and cinnamon.

Where to Buy Biscoff?

You can find Biscoff at most grocery stores. I’ve seen it at Kroger stores, Walmart, Target, Trader Joe’s, Harmon’s, etc. You’ll find it either by the peanut butter and other nut butters or on the cookie aisle.

When you find it, grab a jar for this recipe and then grab another one and make our Biscoff stuff snickerdoodle cookies. You’ll thank me later!

Ingredients for Biscoff Crumb Bars

Now that we have all those logistics out of the way and you know what you are looking for and where to look for it, here are the other ingredients you will need…

  • Butter: should be unsalted and softened so that is whips together with the sugars to be light and fluffy
  • Sugar: just regular white granulated sugar
  • Brown Sugar: adds richness and flavor
  • Vanilla: adds flavor
  • Eggs: one egg and an extra yolk will provide a perfect structure for the base of these dessert bars
  • Flour: just all-purpose flour
  • Salt: enhances all the flavors
  • Baking Powder: acts as a leavening agent and gives the bars their rise and fluffiness
  • Baking Soda: same purpose as the baking powder
  • Cream of Tartar: adds a little tang to the bars that is a snickerdoodle signature
  • Cornstarch: keeps the bars chewy but also fluffy
  • Biscoff: adds flavor, warmth, and the most delici
