Creme Brulee Amish Baked Oatmeal

Have you tried baked oatmeal before?? It’s so delicious, I can hardly stand it! We are huge oatmeal lovers, but this Amish creme brulee version wins the grand prize!

A few years ago some friends went out to brunch with us (yes, we are total brunchers and if you haven’t caught that bug, by all means JUMP IN!!) and we had this glorious amount of food delivered to our table. When in a group, always order many things so you can sample the menu, am I right?! I knew, absolutely KNEW that the french toast at Gourmandise was going to be my winner and was flabbergasted (when’s the last time you wrote that word? 😏) when it was the oatmeal!

Now, you know I am an older woman at heart, so it shouldn’t surprise you that I LOVED the oatmeal, but to be the winner? That takes something special. Well, since I’ve been on this baked oatmeal kick, why not try a Gourmandise Creme Brulee Amish Baked Oatmeal?!

Just try to not pick off the entire topping, it is HEAVEN!!

What is Amish Baked Oatmeal?

Amish baked oatmeal like a warm oatmeal cookie but in casserole form that is made with oats, milk and a few other ingredients you will already have on hand. Traditional oatmeal is like cereal with a creamy porridge consistency. Baked oatmeal is more like a casserole or bread pudding. It is super versatile with endless amounts of add-ins or toppings. I’ll go into that more later in this post.

Cinnamon Crumb Pumpkin Coffee Cake Recipe

My feelings for coffee cake run deep, so I absolutely had to make a pumpkin version of my coffee cake recipe with a cinnamon crumb streusel topping and maple glaze.

Soooo we should talk about how much I love coffee cake because after posting the best coffee cake, and coffee cake muffins, it’s becoming obvious that I’ve got a little obsession. And how could I not? The crumb topping is like the most perfect streusel ever and I’m not exaggerating. It’s got this tiny little hint of salt that you have to taste to understand the goodness. But on top of that, the pumpkin cake is so full of flavor and so tender soft that you just can’t help but take bite after bite.

Pumpkin pie cake has long been a favorite on our blog and I know this is ridiculous but for years I’ve been wondering how I could create a from scratch breakfast version. Obviously things got a little out of hand as that cinnamon topping came into play but I’m certain you’re going to be making this pumpkin coffee cake year after year. In fact, I insist you do. It may sound silly but one of the best gifts you can give your kids is a family tradition. You’d be surprised how much it will mean to them in the future.

Reasons You’ll Love this Pumpkin Coffee Cake Recipe

  • Drizzled with a maple glaze
  • Thick and perfect cinnamon crumb topping
  • Fantastic blend of warm fall flavors
  • Indulgent for breakfast and scrumptious for dessert
  • Super soft, moist and tender
  • Best of all, so easy and quick to make

Apple Cider Donut Muffins

I love the crisp autumn air, the leaves changing colors on the trees, the pumpkin spice everything and most of all, these apple cider donut muffins!

These apple cider muffins are one of our favorite healthy breakfast options. They have the perfect amount of sweet from the cider and brown sugar and the sour cream helps keep them extra tender and moist.

Does your family have any fall traditions? I’m not sure if it’s like this everywhere else, but when fall rolls around here in Utah, all sorts of pumpkin patches pop up with corn mazes and fun activities for families. One of our favorite places is down in a little town called Santaquin at Rowley’s Red Barn. It is the cutest farm with a red barn where you can buy ice cream, fall produce, the best apple cider on earth AND the most outrageously delicious apple cider donuts. I don’t know what they put in those donuts, but they are dangerous!

These apple cider donut muffins are those donuts but in muffin form because, let’s be honest, muffins are just easier than donuts! Everyone has a muffin tin but not everyone has a donut pan. It’s time to make these donut muffins a new fall tradition in your family!

Perfectly fluffy and moist pumpkin muffins with chocolate chips! Eat them with a hot cup of apple cider for breakfast or have a plate full ready for the kids when they get home from school!

Ok, settle a debate! Would you say these muffins are a breakfast food, a snack, or a dessert? I can see arguments for all three, and I’m happy to eat them for all three, but what is your opinion? Or does it even matter?

My New Favorite Granola Recipe

My New Favorite Granola Recipe

I tried olive oil in my granola for the first time and I’m sold for life! This simple homemade granola is going to be your new favorite too! And you can totally add your favorite mix-ins!

I am OBSESSED with granola, but as I only buy coconut oil for granola and otherwise it sits stagnant in my pantry, I started testing out other options. With time I fell in love with olive oil and upon a quick google search discovered I wasn’t the only one. I eventually adapted my original strawberry almond granola with fOOD 52’s recipe and it has been the best granola I’ve not only made, but eaten!

Ingredients for the Best Granola

A good granola only needs a few ingredients and it’s so customizable! Here is the list of ingredients:

  • Oats – old fashioned oats work best, they give the granola structure and are also heart-healthy
    • If you want gluten free granola, be sure the oats are gluten free.
  • Pumpkin Seeds – add a great texture to the granola and are a rich source of protein, vitamins and minerals
  • Almonds – adds protein and healthy fat
  • Maple Syrup – natural sweetener, honey works great too
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – the fat that holds the granola together and gives it that awesome crunch
  • Brown Sugar – adds the perfect about of sweetness and flavor
  • Kosher Salt – don’t skip this, it enhances all the flavors

The measurements for each ingredients are listed in the recipe card below. See the section below on options for other mix-ins.

How to Make Homemade Granola

Another spectacular thing about granola, aside from it being delicious, is that it’s super easy to make:

  1. Preheat the oven and prep a baking sheet.
  2. Stir all the ingredients together in a large bowl and spread on baking sheet.
  3. Bake, stir and bake some more.
  4. Let it cool completely before breaking it up and storing.
These instructions can also be found in full detail at the end of this post.
