Quick and Easy 3-Ingredient Unleavened Bread Recipe

A photo of a bowl of fresh tomato and onion salad in a white bowl with torn pieces of unleavened bread sitting on the side of the bowl.

This Quick and Easy 3-Ingredient Unleavened Bread Recipe requires just three simple ingredients! Last year, we decided to do a Nativity dinner with our children to help us remember Jesus Christ at Christmas, and this Unleavened Bread Recipe quickly became a favorite among the kids.

When planning the dinner, I researched foods that might have been typical in Jerusalem during the time of Christ’s birth, particularly around the Passover week. I aimed to create a meal that closely resembled what people would have eaten during that time, and this recipe fit perfectly!

Unleavened bread was one food that kept coming up in my research. It was simple and would go perfectly with the other recipes I had planned, like our easy homemade hummus.

What Ingredients Do I Need to Make Unleavened Bread?

You only need three ingredients for this recipe—well, technically just two if you don’t count water, which I don’t really consider an ingredient!

  • All Purpose Flour
  • Salt
  • Water

There’s really no reason not to make this bread! With all the ingredients on hand and no rising time required, it couldn’t be easier!

How to Make Unleavened Bread

You thought the ingredient list was simple? Wait until you see just how easy it is to whip this up! Ready? Let’s dive in!

  • Combine the flour and salt in a bowl and stir together.
  • Add the water and stir until the dough forms a cohesive ball.
  • Knead the dough for 5 minutes. And before you groan about kneading, remember—it builds both muscle and character!
  • Preheat your skillet on the stovetop over medium-high heat. Then, divide the dough into 5 to 7 balls, depending on how large you’d like your pieces of bread to be.
  • Roll out each piece of dough on a lightly floured surface until it’s approximately 6 inches in diameter.
  • Cook each piece on a hot skillet for about 2 minutes on each side.
  • Serve hot, and for an extra special touch, brush on a bit of melted butter or olive oil and sprinkle with fresh herbs. I like to choose the herb based on what I

Ok, so if you live in Utah there are probably 3 Mexican fast food chains that you try to copy their chicken or pork. (Mostly the sweet pork, but I’ll do that one later.) This copycat Cafe Rio Chicken recipe is seriously so good and if you don’t want to do a salad then turn it into a burrito!!

This chicken is one of those life saver crock pot (slow cooker) recipes. Kinda like this regular Crock Pot Chicken. I love that you can throw everything together in less than 5 minutes, let it cook all day and then feel like a hero as you serve it to your family. The only thing you really need to watch out for is how darn much the recipe makes.

Scale that sucker back! It’s too much chicken for just our little family! However, that usually means it’s a great opportunity to invite someone over or to surprise a neighbor with dinner. And I’m definitely all about that. It also freezes well to save for another night!

Delicious & The BEST Italian Sauteed Mushrooms Recipe in the world – this is one of my favorite side dishes my mama makes.

Ingredients You Need to Make the Best Sauteed Mushrooms:

  • Baby Bella Mushrooms: also called cremini mushrooms, they have a deep earthy flavor and beautiful color
  • Italian Dressing: You can make your own homemade Italian dressing or buy your favorite brand from the store. This is the secret sauce combined with the flavor of the bell peppers and onions…so dreamy!
  • Onion: just a yellow onion works great
  • Red Bell Pepper: you could also use orange or yellow
  • Salt and Pepper: adds flavor
  • Parsley: used for garnish

The measurements for each ingredient can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post. Keep scrolling for all the details!

Substitutions and Variations

If you can’t find baby bella mushrooms, white button mushrooms will work fine. They just will lack a little depth of flavor. Portobello mushrooms can also be used. You’ll just want to cut them into bite size pieces. Porcini, chanterelle or shiitake mushrooms are also options but they tend to be quite expensive. You can also do a combination of any of these.

Fresh parsley can be swapped for any variety of fresh herbs…thyme, oregano, or rosemary will all taste great.

If you want to add a little heat, add a pinch or two of red pepper flakes.

How to Clean Mushrooms

Mushrooms can sometimes have dirt on them when they are packaged. Be sure to wipe mushrooms with a dry paper towel to clean them. Don’t wash them in water or use a damp paper towel. Mushrooms are like sponges and will soak up water. You don’t want to add any extra moisture, and you want the mushrooms to soak up the Italian dressing flavors.

Linguica or Kielbasa Sausage and Peppers Skillet

Linguica or Kielbasa Sausage and Peppers Skillet

Sometimes the simplest recipe can taste the best! Linguica or kielbasa sausage and peppers only requires 5 ingredients and it doesn’t get any easier (or tastier) to get dinner on the table!

Cade spent 2 years serving as a missionary for our church, and he totally fell in love with the food there. I mean, how could you not, right?! It is SO good! I’m trying to add more delicious Brazilian dishes to our dinner rotation, and this linguica recipe is my latest! Cade says that it is spot on!

We used to visit a Brazilian restaurant every January here in Utah to celebrate Cade’s birthday but over the years it’s gone from delicious to downright terrible. So, I’ve started making more Brazilian recipes from home, kind of like our pao de queijo!

Linguica is so good but it can be a bit tricky to find so feel free to use any sausage like a kielbasa for example that you’d like! Just be sure to pair it with black beans and perfect white rice, or better yet, some feijoada!

a photo of sauteed red and yellow peppers and onions mixed with whole links of linguica sausage served along side a serving of white rice and black beans.

Ingredients for Linguica Sausage and Peppers

Remember how 5 ingredients is all you need?! I am allllll about a recipe with minimal ingredient but still bold in flavor. Here is the list of things you will need:

  • Linguica Sausage – a flavorful pork sausage that can be tricky to find sometimes, so you can substitute other sausages if you want – chorizo would be a good substitute or a kielbasa
  • Mini Bell Peppers – I love how thin and sweet the mini bell peppers are, but you can totally use a full size bell pepper if you need to. I would do one yellow and one red.
  • Green Bell Peppers – just remove the seeds and slice that baby nice and thin
  • Red On

20 Minute Sausage and Peppers Gnocchi

20 Minute Sausage and Peppers Gnocchi

Sausage and peppers in the same dish is such a stellar combo! Toss in some crispy gnocchi and a luscious sauce, and you’ll be adding this quick and easy dinner to your menu this week!

Our 20 minute sausage and peppers gnocchi is actually a meal of forgotten things. I found myself standing at the fridge years and years ago staring into a bunch of random ingredients and nothing to pull it all together; a little chicken broth, a chunk of onion and peppers from a taco night, and these random sausages a friend had given us. Not really enough of anything to make a full meal, or so I thought.

I’ve seen sausage and peppers stuffed into hoagie rolls enough to know that I could probably do something similar but without bread or rolls in the house at the time I needed to get creative and as a newlywed that also required cheap. I did not have enough money to go buy a bunch of stuff but I did have a lone package of pasta.

a photo of a cast iron skillet with golden sausage slices, slices of tender red and yellow bell peppers and onions, and crispy gnocchi with a wooden spoon dishing up a serving.

Over the years we’ve changed up this recipe a gazillion times until a little white cooking wine and the switch from pasta to gnocchi brought it all home. This crispy gnocchi with peppers and onions recipe only takes 20 minutes though the first time may be a little longer as you get the hang of it. Once you’ve done it once it’s a breeze.

Cook this, plate it.

Cook that, plate it.

Crisp the gnocchi, plate it.

Add the first two plates and sauce ingredients back in, simmer the sauce and then throw in the gnocchi, seasoning to taste. That’s it!
