Easy Apple Dumplings with Sprite

Who knew that crescent rolls, cinnamon sugar apples, brown sugar, butter and sprite could make the best easy apple dumplings with Sprite ever!

Ditch your old apple dumplings recipe. Do it. Ditch it. These easy apple dumplings have a couple of very minor changes that make a HUGE difference and I’m totally not kidding. I’ll never make another apple dumplings recipe again.

This recipe reminds me so much of my grandma’s apple rolls recipe just because that sugar liquid is so deceiving. You pour it all around the rolls and it almost puts you into a panic attack seeing all of that liquid around the dough, like is this really going to work?! Are they going to be a soggy mess?!

And then those golden, crisp, pillows of dough come out and you’re a real life hero to the whole family.

Creating This Apple Dumpling Recipe

This is seriously the craziest apple dessert recipe. Most apple desserts seem to be inspired largely from the way apple pie is made. Think about it: apple crisp, apple pull-apart bread, and apple pie scones are all takes on the classic apple pie.

This apple dumpling recipe is similar, but as I’ve been making recipes from others over the years I felt like there was always something missing. Sure, it is a good recipe and one that your guests will love you for, but couldn’t it be taken up a notch without changing the whole recipe?

We started experimenting, a lot. Too much. I could hardly stand to look at another apple dumpling recipe, let alone the apple dumpling itself.

And then it hit me, when you’re trying to do something awesome and it’s not coming together, go back to the original recipe.

So I did. And do you know what I discovered? The apples were not like an apple pie, they were completely plain. No, no, no! Apples need a little cinnamon sugar action to really drive home that fall smell and flavor!

Well don’t stop there, I thought. We need a little cinnamon action in the butter mixture as well. Too many recipes called for just butter and brown sugar. No. We need more. We added vanilla and cinnamon. Let’s get this party started!

Coconut Sweet Chex Mix Recipe

A bowl of coconut sweet chex mix. The mix has rice chex, corn chex and golden grahams with slivered almonds and shredded coconut mixed in.

Sweet gooey Chex mix recipe – One of those classic party or holiday snacks that seems so lame when you look at it, but you can’t stay out of it once you try it.

We had a friend bring over a bag for Christmas this last year. I grabbed a handful and then the next thing I knew, the whole bag was gone. My husband and kids didn’t even get a bite. Oopsies…a classic snaccident!

It’s really that good and that addicting. You have to try it!

This is such a yummy treat to eat while watching a movie or hanging at a party etc! The ultimate party mix! It’s so simple and it’s a nice change from popcorn. You could totally mix things up and add nuts too.

Ingredients for Sweet Chex Mix

It’s the simple things that are the best, right?! There is nothing crazy in this recipe, just simple ingredients blended together in the perfect way. Here is your grocery list:

  • Unsalted Butter
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Light Corn Syrup
  • Sugar
  • Corn Chex
  • Rice Chex
  • Golden Graham Cereal
  • Slivered Almonds
  • Shredded Coconut Flakes

The measurements for each ingredient can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Variations and Substitutions

Feel free to add or swap any of the ingredients you want. Peanuts or cashews would be a great addition or mini pretzels. You can also swap the cereals for other ones you love…Wheat Chex, Crispix, Cheerios or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I’ve seen people use those crunchy chow mein noodles in this mix too or Bugles for a little more salty taste.

If you want to play with the flavor a little, swap the corn syrup for honey and/or the granulated sugar for brown sugar.

Not a coconut fan? Just omit it!

How to Make Sweet Chex Mix Recipe

Snack foods should be simple and quick in my book. Otherwise, you’ve missed the point of a snack. Am I right? Yes, yes I am! Here are the basics:

  1. Combine the cereals, nuts and coconut in a bowl and line two cookie sheets with parchment.
  2. Add the butter, corn syrup, vanilla and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Boil for 1 minute.
  4. Remove from the stove and pour over the cereal mixture.
  5. Stir together and then spread out on the parchment paper to cool.

These steps can be found in the recipe card below as well.

Reasons I Love This Recipe

Scalable: It’s so easy to scale up or down in the recipe. If you’re making neighbor gifts for the oven

No Bake: There is no baking, no oven, no long hours in the kitchen. I don’t have time for that when the holidays come around, so this is a great option for a quick and simple snack.

Fast: This recipe comes together in a total time of about 10 minutes with a little prep time and a couple minutes at the stove. Then it’s just a matter of letting it cool.

Addicting: I dare you try just one handful of this sweet snack mix! The combination of sweet and salty with crunchy tex

Grab that leftover cranberry sauce and make these sweet and tart cranberry sauce muffins. They make a great breakfast or brunch!

Last year I got fed up with all the leftover cranberry sauce so for months after, I tried sticking it in and on everything trying to find the best ways to use it. You can only eat leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches for so many days before you’re totally burned out. In fact, our leftover Thanksgiving turkey sliders is a fabulous way to use leftover cranberry sauce, but I still wanted to find something different. These heavenly cranberry sauce muffins with streusel crumb topping were born.

Recommended Equipment

Before You Begin…

Make sure you have your cranberry sauce ready to go. Hopefully you have leftovers from Thanksgiving so this step is already done. You can make it homemade or use store bought cranberry sauce. I’ve linked to our homemade cranberry sauce recipe in the recipe card.

What Do I Need to Make Cranberry Sauce Muffins?

I’m going to divide the list of ingredients up between the streusel topping and the muffin batter. Jump on the streusel topping first…

For the Streusel

  • All-Purpose Flour: gives the streusel topping structure
  • Light Brown Sugar: adds sweetness and rich flavor
  • Kosher Salt: enhances all the flavors
  • Cinnamon: adds warmth and that classic fall flavor
  • Ground Cardamom: I love the flavor of a little cardamom with cranberry sauce!
  • Butter: binds the streusel together, the key to a good streusel

For the Batter

  • Sugar: adds sweetness and balances out the tart cranberry sauce
  • Vegetable Oil: adds needed fat and moisture to the muffins
  • Eggs: give the muffins structure and rise

The BEST Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies + Video

a photo of baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies piled on top of each other

It was hard work but someone had to do it. We searched for the best pumpkin chocolate chip cookies recipe and today we are sharing it with all of you!!

Why are pumpkin chocolate chip cookies so popular? Even if you don’t like them, you probably know someone who can’t get enough of these festive cookies. We are going to walk you through the steps for making them.

These pumpkin cookies thick and chewy, loaded with chocolate chips and perfectly spiced with those fall flavors we love!

Creating This Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

You know where this all started for us, don’t you? The grocery store. It’s not very often that I buy cookies at the grocery store because:

  1. We enjoy making cookies together.
  2. We love cookie dough (don’t you dare pull the egg thing on me. I know, I know).
  3. I happen to think we make really good cookies, so why buy them?

None of that matters when it comes to pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. We tried so many recipes and just didn’t love them so we kept buying the big, pillowy cookies on a tray from the store. Until last year. Last year everything changed. We discovered the most melt in your mouth pumpkin cookie recipe EVER.

You see, Pinterest was bonkers about pumpkin last year. I’d say it was one of the biggest pumpkin years ever, and with all of the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipes we just had to start testing them all. And you know what, it was the one that was plastered all over Pinterest we liked the least.

We discovered that often those really high cookies were either too dense and soggy or 90% of the time way too dry. So scratch that. We needed pillowy but height was no longer a concern.

Too little or too much pumpkin led to flavorless or eating squash tasting cookies. We found that 1 cup was the perfect amount. Recipes that were doubled or even tripled didn’t come out as well so we stuck to our 3 dozen batch.

It took some time and patience, but now that we’ve discovered the secret to making truly phenomenal pumpkin cookies with gooey chocolate chips, we’ll never go back to the store-bought kind.

Paula Deen Banana Pudding

a slice of creamy banana cream pudding with chessman cookies on top

Not Yo Momma’s Paula Deen Banana Pudding is a fluffy mixture of creamy pudding and whipped cream with cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk. Plus it’s served with Chessman Cookies on the bottom and on top!

I loved banana pudding anything as a little girl. If lip smackers had been smart when I was entering jr high they would have made bank off of a lip gloss for banana pudding anything.

Did you buy Lip Smackers as well? Something like, white cake batter, or Dr Pepper? Those were the good ol’ days.

Paula Deen’s Not Yo Mama’s Banana Pudding

Paula Deen Banana Pudding, or the full name, Paula Deen’s Not Yo Momma’s (or Mama’s) Banana Pudding is a little bit deceiving so I just want to get this out of the way first, it’s not a banana pudding recipe

I mean, it is. There are banana slices under the pudding. But the actual pudding is a french vanilla pudding whipped up with sweetened condensed milk and cream cheese.

That’s a legit pudding dessert

Ingredients for Not Yo Momma’s Banana Pudding

Here’s your quick grocery list to make your banana pudding with Chessman Cookies.

  • Chessman Cookies: traditionally used in a classic recipe for banana pudding and can be found on the cookie aisle
    • Fun Fact: This recipe is sometimes known as Chessman banana pudding!
  • French Vanilla Instant Pudding Box: make sure it is instant pudding and not cook & serve pudding
  • Cool Whip: if you can’t find a 12oz tub of Cool Whip, use 1 and half of the 8oz tubs
  • Cream Cheese: make sure it is room temperature so that it doesn’t get lumpy
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: adds sweetness and creaminess to the dessert
  • Milk: combines with the pudding mix the create the pudding
  • Bananas: ripe bananas are the best for their sweetness and bold banana flavor

The measurements for each ingredient can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.

Substitute for Chessman Cookies

Vanilla Wafers are the best substitute for Chessman cookies if you can’t find them. Chessman Cookies are usually by the Pepperidge Farm brand so look by the Mint Milano cookies.
