Sharing a roundup of the books I’ve read lately and if they’re worth adding to your collection.

Hi friends! How are you? I hope you had an amazing weekend!

Today, I wanted to share the books I read lately and share my ratings with you. I haven’t made reading as much of a priority lately – admitedly, I’ve been doomscrolling a lot – but there have been some real winners in the mix.

Here’s what I’ve read lately:

The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau

Kristin Harmel is one of my all-time favorite historical fiction authors and her latest book did not disappoint. I devourved it on the flight home from Orlando and couldn’t read it fast enough. This is the story of Colette Marceau, a woman in her 90s who has spent her entire life as a jewel thief. It alternates between the early 2000s and WW2, and as the events of her childhood unravel, we learn more about her family, why and how she started stealing jewels, the details involving her sister’s disappearance, and a very special bracelet.

Historical fiction is one of the genres that immediately captures my attention and holds it for the entire book. These stories are always heartbreaking, but I was talking with a friend about it and she agreed that they’re beautiful stories of resilience and they always seem to have exquisite writing and rich character development. 5/5 – highly recommend this one

From Amazon:

Colette Marceau has been stealing jewels for nearly as long as she can remember, following the centuries-old code of honor instilled in her by her mother, Annabel: take only from the cruel and unkind, and give to those in need. Never was their family tradition more important than seven decades earlier, during the Second World War, when Annabel and Colette worked side by side in Paris to fund the French Resistance.

But one night in 1942, it all went wrong. Annabel was arrested by the Germans, and Colette’s four-year-old sister, Liliane, disappeared in the chaos of the raid, along with an exquisite diamond bracelet sewn into the hem of her nightgown for safekeeping. Soon after, Annabel was executed, and Liliane’s body was found floating in the Seine—but the bracelet was nowhere to be found.

Seventy years later, Colette – who has “redistributed” $30 million in jewels over the decades to fund many worthy organizations – has done her best to put her tragic past behind her, but her life begins to unravel when the long-missing bracelet suddenly turns up in a museum exhibit in Boston. If Colette can discover where it has been all this time—and who owns it now—she may finally learn the truth about what happened to her sister. But she isn’t the only one for whom the bracelet holds answers, and when someone from her childhood lays claim to the diamonds, she’s forced to confront the ghosts of her past as never before. Sharing a roundup of the latest books and if they’re worth adding to your collection.

Hi friends! How are you? I hope your week is off to a great start. We’re exploring Kyoto – SO gorgeous here!!- and having the best time. I’ll share more pics in Friday Faves and a recap when we’re back.

In the meantime, I wanted to chat about books. TBH, my book goal has kind of fallen by the wayside this year. I was so consistent the past few years, but lately, by the time we go to bed, I’m exhausted and crash out. I might read for five minutes before I decide to go to sleep… and it takes a long time to finish a book that way!

Now that summer is here, I’m going to spend more time reading with the crew, during the day (<— hoping this makes a huge difference). My current plan (we’ll see how this works) is that in order to have screens, the kids have to make their bed, get dressed and brush their teeth, complete two chores, read for 30 minutes, and move their body (or at least plan to swim or move their body somehow during the day). I’m going to join them for the 30 minutes of reading time and use the time that they’re completing chores to get work stuff done, and we can head out for the adventures of the day. We’ll see how this pans out in real life lol.

Here’s a recap of some of the books I’ve read lately. If you have any summer reads that you’re enjoying, please share the goods in the comments!

Good Grief by Sara Goodman Confino

She’s one of my favorite authors for lighthearted reads and this one is about a new widow, who has an unexpected long-term visit from her mother-in-law. Her plan to get rid of her is to find her a man and she eventually discovers that her mother-in-law has the same plan for HER. There’s lots of shenanigans and I found this to be a sweet read, but not my favorite. (My

Sharing a recap of the books I’ve read lately and if they’re worth adding to your collection.

Hi friends! How are you? I hope that you’re having a lovely morning. The kids and I are off for a hike, and then it’s back home to continue tackling their closet clean-outs. We make such a mess in the process but it’s worth it!

For today’s post, I wanted to share some of the books I’ve read lately. Since the kids went back to school, I haven’t made reading as much of a priority. I’ve missed it, and it’s felt good to get back into it! I’ve been trying to listen to books while doing chores and that’s helped this month. Too.

Here’s a roundup of the recent reads and if I’d recommend adding them to your list!

Lies I Taught in Medical School

In Lies I Taught in Medical School, Dr. Robert Lufkin challenges many of the long-held assumptions of conventional medicine, especially around nutrition, chronic disease, and preventative care. Drawing from his own medical training and clinical experience, he exposes how outdated guidelines, pharmaceutical influence, and limited nutrition education can lead to ineffective – or even harmful- health advice.

Dr. Robert Lufkin walks through how many doctors are trained with outdated nutrition guidelines and limited tools for preventing chronic disease, then shares how his own views shifted after years in practice and in teaching. It’s eye-opening without being preachy, and empowering in the sense that it reminds you that your health isn’t something you hand over blindly. You’re allowed to ask questions, seek root causes, and advocate for what actually makes you feel better. 10/10

From Amazon:

For the first time in history, chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity plague our population on a global scale. From a seasoned physician, this paradigm-shifting book comprehensively explains the linked cause of chronic diseases and exposes th

Hi friends! How are ya? I hope you’re having a lovely morning. We’ve had tons of rain here in Tucson and it’s been positively dreaming. I’m looking forward to a walk in the cooler weather this afternoon!

For today’s post, I wanted to share a recap of the books I’ve read lately. tbh, reading is still towards the end of my priority list right now. I haven’t made as much time to read this year because we’re still trying to find our groove of homeschooling, working, and holding it down while the Pilot is traveling. I’m also making my way through IHP3 and Peptides for Practitioners couse. Usually when I’m solo parenting, by the time I get the kids to bed and the laundry folded, I pretty much collapse into bed.

So needless to say, it’s been a little slower on the reading front, but I’ve still managed to read some amazing books lately!

Here’s a recap of what I’ve read lately and if I recommend adding these to your list!

From Here to the Great Unkown

I’ve always been a huge fan of Elvis and had the biggest crush on him when I was in high school. (The Elvis from his prime, ok? haha) I’ve always been intrigued by his life and family, so when I heard about this book, written by his daughter Lisa Marie Presley, I knew I wanted to listen to the audio version. It includes recorded clips from Lisa Marie and is also narrated by Julia Roberts (soooo good) and Elvis’ granddaughter, Riley Keogh.

The book traces Lisa Marie’s extraordinary yet tumultuous life as Elvis Presley’s only child. It explores fame, identity, addiction, heartbreak, and the deep grief of losing her son. Through Riley’s reflections and the discovery of her mother’s recorded tapes, the memoir is an example of resilience and a love letter between mother and daughter. I highly recommend the audio version – 9/10

From Amazon:

A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved.

Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them. About g

Hiiii friends! How are you? I hope that you’re having a lovely morning so far! We’re doing the usual homeschool thing around here and I’m looking forward to an F45 class this afternoon.

For today’s post, I wanted to chat about books and share some of the ones I’ve read (and quit) lately. TBH, I haven’t been devoting as much time to reading lately. I’ve been working hard through my IHP Level 3 modules – I’m trying to finish by the EquiLife conference in October – and honestly, scrolling at night a lot more. The days are SO wild that it feels amazing to curl up with my weighted blanket and scroll, but the reality is that reading feels good and actually does something positive for my brain. I downloaded about five new books in the hope that one completely sucks me in, so I can be back into my bookwormy ways.

For now, here’s a roundup of the latest books! I’d love to hear what you’ve added to your collection lately and couldn’t put down.

One Golden Summer – DNF

I had high hopes for this one, and I’ve read other books by this author and loved them. They’re usually fast, breezy, with decent writing, and a swoonworthy storyline. This one was FLAT. I kept reading, hoping that it would get better, and I was just slogging through it. I finally called it quits at the 70% point. UGH. I was pretty annoyed with it, but the reality is that reading time is sacred and I’m not going to waste time reading books that I’m not loving — there are too many good ones out there. 4/10

Good things happen at the lake. That’s what Alice’s grandmother says, and it’s true. Alice spent just one summer there at a cottage with Nan when she was seventeen—it’s where she took that photo, the one of three grinning teenagers in a yellow speedboat, the image that changed her life.

Now Alice lives behind a lens. As a photographer, she’s most comfortable on the sidelines, letting other people shine. Lately though, she’s been itching for something more, and when Nan falls and breaks her hip,
