Remember those awesome orange cinnamon butterflake rolls that we made a while back? Well, now we’ve got a maple glazed cinnamon butterflake rolls recipe! If you have never tried a butterflake roll before, the best way I can describe this recipe is maple cinnamon rolls combined with a flaky pull-apart dinner roll.

We love the simplicity of a butterflake roll, but toss in a thick cinnamon mixture and a sweet maple glaze and forget about the normal rolls, we’re talking a mashup between cinnamon rolls and maple bars!! It’s the new creation, Maple Glazed Cinnamon Butterflake Rolls!

Speaking of cinnamon rolls, you need to bake my apple cinnamon rolls as well! Maybe not all on the same day, but those are equally as delicious!

These Maple Glazed Cinnamon Butterflake Rolls have two options, a heavy maple glaze like a maple bar, or a very light glaze if you’re looking for something that isn’t as rich. Both are delicious, but for the lighter glaze just use more liquid and a stitch less maple extract.

Our kids love to make these with me but the kitchen shears snipping through the dough with little fingers around does make me a little nervous with our younger children, so we have a deal. I do all the cutting and they get to get their hands all sticky and messy by rubbing the butter c

Oh, mama! We made this cinnamon roll pigs in a blanket recipe for breakfast the other day and it’s our new go to breakfast!

For this recipe we wrap a cinnamon roll around a sausage link to make the most delicious sausage dunkers. We will teach you how to make a maple butter sauce for dipping them in too. The combination of sweet and savory in a breakfast recipe is totally my jam! Remember our cinnamon bread bacon stuffing at Thanksgiving?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Johnsonville Italian Sausage. The opinions and text are all mine.

What are Pigs in a Blanket?

Pigs in a blanket are an appetizer or breakfast food consisting of small sausages wrapped in pastry.

I think everyone has heard of “pigs in a blanket” right? I certainly have and then when Cade and I were talking about what to do for our next post with Johnsonville, we knew we wanted to make a kid friendly Christmas breakfast recipe and I suddenly realized I don’t know anything. Then I said, what about our own version of pigs in a blanket, you know with the pancakes.

And Cade informed me that most pigs in a blanket recipes are actually hot dogs or franks in crescent dough or puff pastry. What?! All these years and I didn’t know! Well, this is still our breakfast take, cinnamon roll pigs in a blanket dunkers with a maple butter sauce.

That’s right, maple butter sauce. Cinnamon Rolls. And of course, breakfast sausage links.

Ingredients for Cinnamon Roll Pigs in a Blanket

For the sausage dunkers, all you need is 2 ingredients! So simple! For the maple butter sauce, you’ll need just a handful of ingredients, most of which you’ll have already at home. Here is what you will need:

  • Grands Cinnamon Rolls
  • Johnsonville Turkey Fully Cooked Breakfast Sausage: we chose to use precooked sausages to save on time but you can cook your own sausage if you prefer

Maple Mustard Grilled Chicken Thigh Marinade

a photo of a several grilled chicken thighs sitting on a baking sheet covered in a juicy maple mustard marinade.

This chicken thigh marinade is the perfect blend of mustard (2 kinds!), garlic, maple syrup, brown sugar, vinegar and seasonings. It is so simple and so good, it could be used to marinate socks!

This is one of those marinade recipes that’s wonderful on every single kind of meat you could consume — salmon, steak, pork tenderloin, chicken in all its varieties, etc. I love when when I find a fail-proof marinade recipe like that! We used to make this chicken all the time when the blog first began, but over the years you slowly start to try new things and before you know it, without even meaning to, you’ve forgotten some of the things that you love the most.

Boy, if that’s not symbolic of life, I don’t know what is!

This chicken thighs marinade recipe is one that is simply whisked together, can easily be adapted if needed (see notes below) and works just as well marinating 30 minutes as it does for hours. But beware, not all meats can handle it the same, so check out the entire post.

And if you haven’t already, you absolutely must take a second to pin our other marinade recipes like:

Family Dinners

We are about to send our first off to college in a year, another is deep in the waters of Jr High and still our caboose is entering the battlefield of the elementary school playground. If there’s one thing I know for certain it’s that family dinners are an absolute must to stay connected to one another. I would bet that it’s even life-saving for families. But with three kids at three different schools and totally different needs I can easily feel like I’m running around and never slowing down. This recipe is loved by everyone around the dinner table!

Ingredients for Chicken Thigh Marinade

The best marinades have a little salt, a little sweet, a little acid, and a little spice. This marinade recipe checks all the boxes. Here is what you will need:

  • Chicken Thighs: boneless, skinless
  • Dijon Mustard: pale yellow in color but bold in tangy flavor
  • Stone Ground Mustard: adds texture to the marinade and the teeny tiniest bit of heat
  • Garlic: adds flavor
  • Dark Brown Sugar: light brown can be used, dark brown just has a richer flavor
  • Maple Syrup: be sure to use the real stuff, Grade A
  • Oregano or Marjoram: I used dried herbs for this recipe, but you can use fresh if you want. You’ll want to half the amount down to 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Rice Vinegar: add
