This cold buster green smoothie recipe is packed with fresh fruits and vegetables to boost your immune system, hydrate your body and send those winter colds packing!

Green smoothies were all the rage a while ago and still are, but I never really thought they were that big of a deal. And then I realized that with all of those vitamins packed into a smoothie we would actually be giving ourselves the proper nutrition that we are recommended in getting. So, we started keeping a full supply of spinach and fruits and sure enough, not only did we start feeling better but we weren’t getting sick.

I hate winter. I know, lots of people love it and cannot wait to get outside and enjoy all that the snow has to offer, but I hate it. Strong word? I seriously dislike it I guess. I am learning to really enjoy skiing, but I still freeze to death and cannot last very long out there. But the major reason I don’t like winter is because we all get sick and pass it around over and over again all winter long. I freeze all winter which I’m sure keeps me sick.

You don’t have to pass a cold around all winter. Last year we cracked down and learned how to fight a cold and this cold buster green smoothie was a huge help! Keep scrolling to the end to see other products we love to help us survive winter colds.

What Makes a Green Smoothie?

The definition of a “green smoothie” can be quite ambiguous but the basics of a green smoothie are:

Leafy Greens + Liquid + Fruit

Then, of course, you can add other ingredient to add protein and more nutrients. Keep scrolling below to see suggestions for the best types of leafy greens, liquids and fruits. We also want to highlight what makes this recipe specifically a cold buster green smoothie.

Ingredients in a Cold Buster Green Smoothie

This smoothie is unique in that we chose specific items to kick the cold right where it hurts:

  • Spinach: adds great fiber, vitamins and nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin K as well as iron, folate and potassium
  • Orange Juice: isn’t just about the vitamin C it’s also about staying hydrated
  • Orange with Peel: really slam dunk the vitamin C and the peel contains 4 times more fiber than the fruit itself, it has anti-inflammatory properties and may even help reduce harmful LDL’s
  • Baby Carrots: great for killing germs in the mouth and helping with digestion
  • Banana: gives the body natural energy which is something you are lacking when sick, and it helps the smoothie be extra creamy
  • Frozen Pineapple: adds flavor and helps thicken the smoothie when it’s frozen
  • Apple: adds flavor and natural sweetness
  • Ice: helps thicken the smoothie without adding sugar or extra calories
  • Optional: add a scoop of protein so our b

Rosemary Orange Glazed Roasted Pork Tenderloin

A sheet pan with two glazed, roasted pork loins. There are potatoes and brussels sprouts on the sheet pan also. The pork loins are sliced for serving.

Orange glazed pork tenderloin is marinated in a delicious rub and then glazed in a sweet and tangy sauce making it juicy on the inside and crusty on the outside.

I have not had many pork tenderloins and it hasn’t helped that Cade hasn’t been interested in them either. Every now and again I’d step into the ol’ Pinterest app and sure enough another pork loin was front and center. Now I know all about algorithms and that Pinterest had caught on that I slowed my scrolling seeing the pics but even so, it worked.

I’ve been testing and testing to turn an often flavorless meat into dish for a Sunday dinner that wasn’t a hassle but looked and tasted like the best home cooked meal ever. The key? Letting the rub sit on the meat for a whole day. And what rub is that? Based off of an old orange and cranberry relish my sister used to stuff breaded chicken with. Oh it’s so good!

What Ingredients Do You Need for Orange Glazed Pork Tenderloin?

Aside from the pork tenderloins, you will need a few ingredients for the rub and few ingredients for the sauce. A phenomenal homemade meal is just this easy. Here is your shopping list:

  • Pork Tenderloin
  • Orange
  • Orange Juice
  • Garlic
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Olive Oil
  • Kosher Salt
  • Yukon Gold Potatoes
  • Brussels Sprouts

Sauce

  • Orange Zest
  • Orange Juice
  • Brown Sugar
  • Orange Marmalade
  • Rosemary
  • Cinnamon

Orange Cranberry Bliss Bars

a photo of several orange cranberry bliss bars stack on each other. they are drizzled with a white chocolate drizzle and topped with dried cranberries.
Orange and cranberry go together like pb and j or better yet, like pb and chocolate! These orange cranberry blondies are so soft and chewy. It’s like Christmas in your mouth!
You know how some things just belong together? I believe that oranges and cranberries are one of those combos that is just meant to be. Have you tried our orange cranberry glazed poppy seed bread?  Oh man, it’s so good! Then there is our orange cranberry pull apart bread that is just to die for!
There’s just something about the tartness of the cranberries with the tanginess of the orange all together with the sweetness of the blonde brownie and frosting that makes for one blissful bite!

Speaking of Things that Go Together…

Oranges and cranberries are foods that go together. Just like certain foods taste better together, I believe that some people are better together too. So much about being a mother is hard! Is anyone out there with me? It’s hard to sacrifice so much so constantly, but it’s worth it.

I was having a conversation with a friend about going to the park the other day. I secretly hate going to the park (I know, worst mom ever!). I don’t want to try the monkey bars. I don’t want to play pirates. I don’t want to climb up the slide.

And then there is the imaginative play! I can’t do it! I don’t know what it is, but it’s actually physically and mentally imp

Orange Creamsicle Cookies

Why is the combination of bright orange flavor with creamy vanilla so dang good?! I don’t have the answer, but these orange creamsicle cookies hit the spot!

Remember being a kid on a hot summer day and asking your mom for a 50/50 bar? You know, those popsicles that were vanilla ice cream wrapped in orange popsicle. I can taste them now. So dreamy!
Anyway, I used to loooove the orange dreamsicle, creamsicle, whatever they are called, Popsicles when I was little.

Then Jamba Juice came out with the smoothie and I loved it. In fact, when I got out of the hospital after having our second baby, I was feeling a little hungry (that happens sometimes when you haven’t done anything other than throw up for months!) and the doctor really wanted me to try and eat anything I could.

So, off we went to Jamba. BEST. SMOOTHIE. EVER. I’m sure it was because I hadn’t eaten real food in forever but ohhhh it tasted good. I threw it up the second we got home, but worrrrtttthhhhhhh itttttttt!!! (Little one, you were worth it too.)

Back to these cookies…they have bold orange flavor thanks to fresh orange zest and are loaded with white chocolate chunks for that creamy vanilla flavor. These creamsicle orange cookies will make you feel like a kid again!

Ingredients Needed for Orange Creamsicle Cookies

This cookie recipe has all of your standard cookie ingredients with some fresh orange zest for natural orange flavor and white chocolate chips for creamy vanilla goodness. Here is what you will need:

  • Flour: just regular all-purpose flour
  • Corn Starch: the addition of just a little corn starch keeps the cookies tender but still crumbly
  • Baking Soda: the leavening agent that gives the cookies their fluffiness
  • Salt: enhances all the flavors
  • Orange Zest: rub the zest with the white sugar to release oils for smell and flavor
  • Sugar: adds sweetness
  • Brown Sugar: make sure it is firmly packed and it adds richness to cookies
  • Butter: unsalted and softened
  • Shortening: you can use all butter if you want but you will get a fluffier cookie with some shortening added
  • Egg: gives the cookies structure as they bake
  • Vanilla: adds flavor
  • Orange Extract: totally optional, I prefer the cookies without it but it won’t have as strong an orange flavor. Never use orange juice.
  • White Chocolate: chunks or chips, I used Ghirardelli white chocolate chunks.

The measurements for each ingredient are listed in the recipe card below along with the instructions for how to make these cookies.

Glazed Orange Bundt Cake

Glazed Orange Bundt Cake

a photo of a slice of bright orange bundt cake topped with a white glaze sitting on a white plate with a fork in front of if and small orange slices scattered around it.

Fresh orange flavor is packed into every bite of this tender glazed orange bundt cake! We use fresh orange juice and zest in the cake, syrup and glaze for bold, bright bursts of refreshing orange flavor.

I have been testing and testing an orange bundt cake recipe in every way you could imagine; I’ve made it with butter, with oil, with sour cream, without sour cream, ricotta, whole oranges, orange zest, orange juice, different glazes and then list goes on. And this is finally the recipe of all recipes.

Listen, in extensive research I found so many people insisting that bakers make the cake with whole oranges and you know what? IT’S NOT THE BETTER WAY. I wanted it to be so bad, but it led to a more dense, heavy bundt cake.

And while yes, it technically wasn’t dry, it also wasn’t light and melt-in-your-mouth moist, so I’d rather have a cake dry out two days later than start out so heavy and not as orangey all due to that white pith holding me back.

What Ingredients Do I Need for Orange Bundt Cake?

This cake recipe is broken into 3 different parts — the cake, the syrup and the glaze. Plan on using about 10-12 oranges depending on how big and juicy they are for all the fresh juice, zest and peel you will need. Here are the ingredients for each part:

Cake:

  • Sugar: just regular granulated sugar
  • Orange Zest: You’ll need about 2 oranges to get the zest you need. Zest adds so much bold orange flavor and rubbing it with the sugar releases the natural oil in the zest to produce even more flavor.
  • Fresh Orange Juice:  You’ll need 6-8 oranges to get all this fresh orange juice. You could also buy a really high quality orange juice if you want to instead of juicing oranges. Make sure it doesn’t have added sugar or the cake will end up overly sweet.
  • Eggs: gives the cake structure
  • Vanilla: adds flavor
  • Almond Extract: adds flavor, if you aren’t an almond extract fan, just omit it
  • Vegetable Oil: all cakes must have fat, and oil keeps the cake nice and moist
  • Flour: just regular all purpose flour, and you’ll want to sift it into the batter
  • Baking Powder: leavening agent that helps the cake rise
  • Baking Soda: another leavening agent to help the cake rise and be fluffy
  • Salt: enhances all the flavors

Orange Simple Syrup

  • Oranges Peels: you’ll need the peel of 2 oranges and they add so much natural orange flavor to the syrup
  • Fresh Orange Juice: you’ll need 3-4 oranges for this step to get the juice you need
  • Water: the base of the simple syrup
  • Sugar: adds sweetness and thickens the syrup

Orange Glaze

  • Butter: unsalted and softened
  • Powdered Sugar: adds sweetness and thickens the glaze
